It’s all because of my guys
We are thrilled to partner with ThorSport Racing for this exciting event ... Johnny Sauter and Matt Crafton’s visit to the Nashville Ronald McDonald House provides a wonderful opportunity for the children and families who make our House their home away from home.
I understand they would be upset ... The last thing I wanted to do was wreck him. It was not intended. I was trying to get him off the bottom.
Since there was so much drafting going on into Turn 1, I slowed the pace of the restart down because I didn't want drafting to be such a big factor ... That helped me get through Turn 1 better and then I was able to clear Matt Crafton.
They were upset ... I can understand why they’d be upset. The last thing I wanted to do was to wreck him.
The restarts were crazy because it was drafting so much down into turn one ... So my strategy for the last green-white-checkered was to slow the pace down. As soon as the pace truck left us, I slowed the pace of my truck to about 100 RPMs to make sure drafting was not going to be as big of a play going ...
Everyone talks about how tough this place is and then a lot of them go out and run hard and bounce off the fence and use their stuff up or wreck it and we didn’t want to do that
Everyone pitted with that caution around the halfway point and we knew it would be close to make it on fuel if it went green from there ... We had another caution about 10 laps later and we came down to take tires and top off the fuel. We were hoping for some more green flag racing in the second half be...
I can’t wait to get it behind us ... There are so many variables there, things outside of your control. It might not be in the same league as a Daytona or Talladega, but it’s close. We need to make sure we keep the right front fender on the truck and not be up scraping against the wall.
I saw Justin Lofton inside of Brian Ickler and it looked like Lofton got loose and slid up into Ickler and left me a huge hole down on the bottom
I honestly didn’t know with the race what to expect here
I had a blast ... I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I had a blast. All in all, it was not a bad day for us.
After such a horrible start to the season it’s great to get some momentum and start picking up some top five finishes
I thought we had a second or third place truck but we kinda got snookered on pit strategy there at the end
Scuffs were really, really good
I saw Johnny had to check up when the 3 didn’t go at the restart
Getting more laps on any racetrack’s going to help you ... So we’re just looking to go there and have some fun and contend for a win in both series.
It’s been very, very frustrating
We had all the confidence in the world going into the season and we’ve had very, very fast trucks every week, but this has probably been, like I’ve said before, probably one of the worst seasons up till now I’ve had that I can ever remember in racing
