I don't mind some type of elimination process, but I think that when you come down to crowning the champion, it can't be about one race and that option has been thrown around as well ... I just think that's unfair. I think it takes away from the history of our sport and we're already down to 10 races to...

We were really confused as to why ... Maybe something went on with a shock or something in the front. ... We changed both shocks thinking that might be it. And that really didn't correct the problem.

We made some attempts [to fix the car] during caution flags and made some big changes on pit road, but nothing really woke the car up. But we'll move on and we'll be stronger ... There's no doubt about it.
While we have no plans for Jeff not to drive the car, it’s my duty to have a plan if Jeff had to leave. Almirola had previously been on standby for Jimmie Johnson prior to wife Chandra’s delivery of their first daughter. He’s a really great kid ... He’s really easy to work with and he’s a very talented ...
I had high expectations for today, so, at this point, I’m a little confused
Jimmie Johnson is a great guy to talk with, because you can actually get him to say a few sentences
We were just trying to make the car better on the pit stops
we are tweaking the current Chase format because we at Nascar are tired of Jimmie Johnson running away with the championship ever year.
We just had a really bad understeer problem on corner entry into the center that we couldn't get out of it ... We made some attempts during caution flags and made some big changes on pit road but nothing really woke the car up. So we'll have to dig in and find out what happened.
They’re competitors ... I don’t know if there’s anything we can present to Jimmie Johnson – I don’t blame him by the way – on a championship format that he would think is as good as we have now. That’s not surprising. We take all of that into consideration.

Man you just never know each week ... It doesn’t matter if the No. 11 (Denny Hamlin) car has been on a roll at times and we’ve been on a roll at times and the No. 29 (Kevin Harvick), whoever it is, nobody seems to be able to sustain for a long time.

I was just so grateful, last year, to have a chance at the win. To be up there, racing with ‘Superman (Jimmie Johnson)’ and having a shot...
